Annotations
Powerful annotation capabilities which enable the addition of text, highlights, sticky notes, audio, ellipses, circles, squares, buttons, lines, arrows, rectangles, polygons, redaction (blackout), hotspots, freehand scribble, pointers, images, stamps, rulers and hyperlinks all with multilayer security features, to document, colour and grayscale images. Annotation functionality is included with both the Document Imaging and Document Imaging Suite products.
Display, Memory and Processing Optimisations
All of the display functionality in the Raster Imaging products, plus specialised display options called bitonal scaling for greatly increasing the quality and readability of black and white images on the screen are included in the Document Imaging products.
Zoom View - LEADTOOLS provides a "zoomed view" feature that can be attached to a window handle. The Zoom View gives you the ability to "zoom in" on the image loaded into the window to which it is attached.
Faster loading and viewing speeds and reduced requirements for end-users are a result of the Document Imaging products capacity to keep images compressed in memory. Additionally, advanced algorithms, such as the FastRotate function, take full advantage of these memory optimisations to make the process instantaneous.
Image Acquisition - TWAIN capture
TWAIN drivers are standard with almost all scanner and other image acquisition hardware. Also, with recent advancements, LEADTOOLS Fast TWAIN is the technology of choice for performance and reliability. LEADTOOLS Document Imaging products currently support all functionality included in the TWAIN v1.9 specification.

Image Enhancement Functionality
During scanning or faxing, noise and distortion can occur and cause a decrease in accuracy in OCR and human readers. To combat these imperfections, users of LEADTOOLS Document Imaging products can employ specialised functions called Doc-Clean to remove noise, borders, lines and hole punches, smooth text and invert white on black text, and other functions to straighten skewed images (deskew), fatten thinning lines and text (dilatation) and erode text that has gotten too thick (erosion).

Specialised Storage and Compression
Mixed Raster Content (MRC) uses a technique of dividing images into image and text components and then uses a compression especially suited for that type of image to get the best compression and quality possible.
JBIG is a bitonal image compression that uses several advanced techniques to compress bitonal images with no loss and consistently maintains much better compression ratios as compared to CCITT compression techniques.
JBIG2 is used for reading and writing files with JBIG2 compression. JBIG2 compression is superior to LZW, TIFF Group 4 and other 1 bit compression.
ABIC used for reading and writing ABIC files. ABIC is a compression format for compressing check images.
CMW is an advanced compression that is better than JPEG2000 in quality, speed and compression ratios. LEADTOOLS CMW includes support for multiple resolutions. This makes your applications faster and more memory efficient because the entire file does not have to be loaded and decompressed just to load a low resolution image.
Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
OCR will convert images into text to be used as strings in code or can be saved as several document, database and spreadsheet formats. OCR functionality is available as an OCR add on for Document Imaging or is included with the Document Imaging Suite product.
Barcode
Barcodes have been used in document imaging for years to help identify the document, information about the document, or any of thousands of other reasons. Because barcodes are so useful in document imaging applications, LEAD has made available several barcode add-on options to meet your specific application needs.
General Imaging Features
To make the LEADTOOLS Document Imaging products the most diverse and robust document imaging toolkits in the world, LEAD has also included general (bitonal, grayscale and colour) imaging features including Image Processing (Transforms, Filters, Drawing, Region of Interest), Colour Conversion, Display, Special Effects (choose from more than 2000 effects), Compression, Image Format (import/export), Printing, Internet/intranet imaging, Database imaging, Imaging Common Dialogs and Screen Capture. |
